Childhood Memories

Over Memorial day weekend my family and I went camping up on Mt. Graham near Thatcher, AZ. On the way home we stopped by the old Smith family cabin. It was sold a many years ago because we didn't visit often enough and the upkeep was too much. It was wonderful going back. We showed Jaimee, Seth's new wife it and all the places we used to play at when we were younger. Like Slide Rock, baby Slide Rock, Dinosuar Rock, the ferns, the Lewis' cabin and some how my parents remember Cow Rock. We weren't to sure about that one. I'm glad we went back, I miss it. And now I have a picture of the cabin that we spent many summers with cousins, family and friends and had many memories together.

I know this is long over due but hey I'm getting to it now. In the middle of I had the opportunity to spend a week in Washington DC with a friend and her mom to visit some family. It was amazing. The weather was wonderful, we got to wear scarfs and I found out that I LOVE scarfs!! Something that you really don't get to experience when you live in Arizona. There are too many stories from this trip, so I just thought it would be easier to show you pictures instead. ENJOY!

Photography Workshop

I had the opportunity at the beginning of this month to go to a photography workshop with Trevor Dayley. It was amazing! I learned a lot and got to know my camera better. It was in Chandler Mall and Trevor invited Kathryn to come be a model for us. Thank you so much Trevor for giving me the opportunity to learn from a wonderful photographer. I have a whole bunch of family in town because my sister is blessing Mr. Three tomorrow. As we were just sitting around talking I brought my camera out with some necklaces & feather boas. And gave them to Catherine. Let me tell you it was super exciting to take pictures of a GIRL because I have 5 nephews.

Weddings, Baptisms, & Newborns!

This week was busy. I got to experience a couple get married and then get baptized right after. I had taken their engagement pictures as a favor and they loved them so much they hired me to take their wedding pictures. This couple was amazing. Everything that the ward did for them made the day even more special. And I got to help them remember this day!

Then later that week I got to take pictures of Shadrach, my cousin Trevor's newborn.

Black and White

When I first started photography I was a senior in high school. I really do miss taking pictures in black and white and printing them myself. When shooting with black and white film you have to have a whole different way of looking at things.The very last picture was taken at night. I held the shutter open for about 30 seconds to a minute. It looks like it was taken during the day, but this was right after a car accident at my house.

My friend Vanessa was due in a couple weeks when we took these with her husband Reilly. And then when Tilly was a couple days old I went to her house, using natural light photographed her. I love it when they are this young, they corroperate so well and you get the most amazing shots.

Hi, welcome to my portfolio! Just a little about me, my name is Sarah Joye and I have been taking pictures professionaly for 7 years now. I started back in my senior year of high school, loved it so much that I went to college for photojournalism. Taking as many classes I could about photography and it's history. A year into college I got a job working full time at Kiddie Kandids portrait studio. I was there for 4 years helping run the store and learning a great deal about photographing families and children. I was told I had an eye for getting just the right picture at the right time. I had many experiences working with many different people the next couple years working in other studios and on my own. I hope that you enjoy the pictures of families, children, tender moments, landscape, and everything else in between.
